Eduprime is hiring IGCSE tutors for families on Singapore's international track. This is a different job from O-Level or IB tutoring, and the difference is not cosmetic. The student in front of you sits a named board — Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel — and the same subject title hides different papers, different weightings, and different expectations of what an extended-response answer should contain. Many of these students have moved between school systems mid-course and carry gaps that no diagnostic in their new school has caught. If you can read a specification, work out where a transferring student actually stands against it, and coach a tier decision honestly, we would like to hear from you.
What makes this work worth doing
- You teach to a specification, not a general syllabus — students are matched to the board and level you know, so a Cambridge Extended physicist does not land on your schedule if Edexcel is where your fluency is.
- The transferring student is the interesting case. Someone arriving from an American, Indian, or MOE-track school mid-Year 10 has genuine holes, and finding them before the school does is real diagnostic work.
- Tier placement is a decision you get to influence. Advising Core versus Extended honestly, with the grade ceiling on the table, is the kind of judgement that changes an outcome.
- Paid hourly in Singapore dollars, on time, at an agreed rate. No deductions you were not told about.
- International-curriculum teaching experience is valued here rather than treated as a detour from the local track.
The role
The teaching itself
- Confirm the student's board and syllabus code at the outset, and teach to that specification rather than a generic subject outline.
- Coach students through Core versus Extended entry on Cambridge subjects, and Foundation versus Higher where Edexcel tiers a paper, with the achievable grade range made plain to the student and family.
- Supervise and support coursework and internal assessment where the specification still carries it, respecting the school's authorship and moderation rules absolutely.
- Run past papers against published grade thresholds so a student knows what a mark actually converts to, and drill the command words the board's mark schemes reward.
- Diagnose and close curriculum gaps left by a mid-course transfer between school systems, and report those gaps plainly to the family.
- Track the student's entry series — Cambridge runs March, June and November sittings and Edexcel runs January and June — and plan the revision arc backwards from that date.
What you need to bring
- Working knowledge of at least one IGCSE board's specifications in your subject, with an honest sense of where Cambridge and Edexcel diverge in your area.
- A strong record in the subject you want to teach — degree-level study, teaching in an international school, or your own IGCSE and A-Level results, whichever is genuinely your evidence.
- Comfort with tiered assessment: reading a student's real position and recommending an entry level without either flattering or writing them off.
- Reliability on schedule. Expat families work around term dates, relocations, and travel, and they need a tutor who confirms and shows up.
- Right to work in Singapore, and the flexibility to teach at homes across the island or over video.
Pay
Rate
S$45 – S$110 per hour
Paid hourly in SGD, reliably. Where you sit in that band depends on your subject, the level and tier you teach, and your track record with the specific board. Coursework-heavy subjects and Extended-tier sciences and mathematics generally sit higher. The rate is agreed before your first session, and we do not guarantee grades to families, so we do not ask you to.

Questions tutors ask us
Do I need to know both Cambridge and Edexcel?
No. Tell us which one you know and we match accordingly. Tutors fluent in both are useful to us because sibling groups and school transfers sometimes split across boards, but a deep single-board tutor is far more valuable than someone who half-knows two.
A family wants their child on Extended but the student is not there yet. What do I do?
Say so, with evidence from past-paper marks against published thresholds, and explain the trade-off: the Core ceiling caps the grade, while a misjudged Extended entry can leave a student stranded on the harder paper. Eduprime does not ask tutors to tell families what they want to hear. The entry decision belongs to the school and the family, and your job is to make it an informed one.
Am I allowed to help with coursework?
You can teach the skills, discuss the specification's assessment criteria, and give feedback on drafts within what the school and board permit. You cannot write, dictate, or supply material that ends up submitted as the student's own work. Cambridge coursework is supervised and moderated, and a malpractice finding follows the student's whole entry — this is a hard line for us.
What happens if my student relocates before the exam?
It happens on the international track more often than most tutors expect. Many continue online from the new country until the sitting; others stop. You are paid for the sessions you have taught, and we work with you on filling the slot.
Can I teach students who joined the syllabus late?
Yes, and much of our IGCSE demand is exactly that — a student arriving in Year 10 or Year 11 from a different school system, part-way through a two-year course. Expect the first sessions to be diagnostic before anything resembling normal teaching begins.
Is this in-person or online?
Either. One-to-one or small group, at the family's home anywhere on the island or over video. Many IGCSE families take a mix, especially during exam series when travel is the thing they most want to cut.
